System of a Down (también conocida como System o más frecuentemente por su acrónimo, SOAD) es una banda de metal alternativo de ascendencia armenia formada en Glendale, California, en el año 1995. En un comienzo se llamaron Soil, pero luego adoptaron el nombre System of a Down inspirados por el poema Victims of a Down, escrito por el guitarrista Daron Malakian.
Está compuesta por Serj Tankian (composición, voz, teclado y ocasionalmente guitarra), Daron Malakian (composición, guitarra y voz), Shavo Odadjian (bajo) y John Dolmayan (batería).
